Welcome!
What is DXFC? The ‘F’ in DXFC stands for ‘Feet’: countries in which you have stepped foot. This is for licensed radio amateurs who like travelling. We DXers know all about DXCC so this is just our bit of fun. It works with the same 338 current ‘entities’.
Rules Step foot in a DXCC entity (current at the time of the visit) to count one point, even just on the tarmac or jetty is enough. Staying on board while in transit does not count. You don’t need to pass through immigration. That’s it. No more rules! No confirmation required. There is no FAQ: answer your own questions! It’s not complicated - it’s just fun. Register with your ham radio call-sign and claim your countries by ticking the appropriate boxes. The web-site will even count them up for you. Update whenever you like.
Veni, Vidi, QRV! There is also a column to score points for being QRV in each entity: preferably a proper operation, but we each have our own rules for this.
Travel Tips A new section has been added within the Encyclopedia module called Travel Tips. This is a first pass at this new idea and all those with specialist knowledge or information on how to visit some of the more unusual or inaccessible DXFC entities are asked to submit their hints and tips.
Articles and Soapbox Upload stories, articles and your own blog. Describe your latest contest trips too. Other DXFC'ers are waiting to hear how you got on, what you did, etc.
Updates and Additions... 17 Aug 08 - The prefix for Bosnia-Herzegovina has been updated to E7. 14 Dec 07 - St Barthelemy (FJ) has been added as a new DXCC entity, bringing the total DXFC count to 338. 24 Dec 07 - The prefix for French St Martin has been changed to FS.

DXFC as part of IARU R1 Conference!
|
|
3 new DXFC this week! Ian G4FSU and I are in Cavtat, Croatia, as part of the secretariat for the IARU Region 1 conference. Cavtat is just south of Dubrovnik, in that narrow strip of 9A that runs down to the Montenegro border and is separated from BiH (E7) by the coastal mountain range.
9A was a new counter for both of us (Ian had been to Dubrovnik when it was still YU), but the opportunity for a couple more was too good to miss so last Sunday we took a local taxi down to Igolu (or something like that) just over the 4O border, where we enjoyed a leisurely coffee. Today, after the final plenary, we rebooked the same taxi, were joined by John G3WKL, and headed over the mountains into BiH and the nearest town were we took some pics and a walk round the old part of the town.
So three new ones each for Ian and I, and a lot of fun!

For those interested in travelling to JX, EcoExpeditions have announced an expedition to Jan Mayen next year. They plan to start and end the
expeditions next summer on Iceland. Price will probably be around
€ 3300. You will have to organize
and pay for your own travel to Iceland (but they will help you with this).
Included in the price is all food, transport to/from Jan Mayen, guided
excursions on Jan Mayen with climb of Beerenberg, tents and food on Jan
Mayen. They have a few places available on their Jan Mayen trips in 2009 (21.6 – 3.7 and 5.7 – 17.7).

Lionel/G5LP and I have just done an overnight Micro-DXpedition to E7 and 9A, each making QSOs in both countries. A lot of laughs! The well-tested formula worked FB: K2 with 40/20m trapped dipole. Hire-car from Split airport, 1.5 hours drive to cross the border at Kamensko, parked in a field beside a lake, then back to our hotel in Trogir. These quick trips are SUCH a lot of fun! 73 de Roger/G3SXW.
